Mar 17, 2025Texas high school ATC sentenced to 7 years in federal prison
A former athletic trainer in Texas has been sentenced to seven years in federal prison for possession of child pornography.
Trevor Swift, 57, was an athletic trainer at Lake Belton High School in Texas. In May 2022, students observed Swift viewing images depicting child sexual abuse on his cell phone. The students recorded the scene and reported the conduct to the school administrators.
A recent article from KXXV.com detailed the sentence of the Texas athletic trainer. Below is an excerpt from the KXXV.com article.
Swift’s arrest is part of a larger campaign known as Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice to tackle the expanding crisis of child exploitation and abuse, this program coordinates the efforts of federal, state, and local agencies to track down and prosecute online predators, while also working to identify and help victims — a mission more critical than ever in the digital age where threats to our youngest and most vulnerable have proliferated beyond past imagination.
Swift was arrested on May 26, 2022, and was convicted in a bench trial on July 31, 2024.
The investigation included the seizure of an SD memory card from Swift’s office at the high school, which revealed pornographic images depicting prepubescent and pubescent children—males and females as young as 5 years of age or younger—engaged in sexual acts.
Acting U.S. Attorney Margaret Leachman for the Western District of Texas announced the sentencing.
The FBI and the Temple Police Department investigated the case.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Kucera prosecuted the case.
