Former Kansas HS Athletic Trainer Gets 2 Months in Jail

A former Junction City (KS) High School athletic trainer was sentenced to 32 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections, but it was suspended.

Brandon M. Martino was placed on probation for 36 months after he immediately serves 60 days in the Geary County Detention Center, according to a report from the Junction City Post.

kansasHe received this sentence after entering a no-contest plea in July and was found guilty of one felony count of Sexual Exploitation of a Child. According to court documents, Martino sent a female student-athlete from the high school, who was under 18 at the time, sexually explicit text messages — including nude photos and videos of himself.

The Kansas Board of Healing Arts reported in July that they had indefinitely suspended Martin’s license, in addition to being immediately suspended from all school duties.

At the time of his arrest, USD 475 suspended Martino from all duties and responsibilities. “Any behavior that jeopardizes the safety and integrity of our students and staff is unacceptable.”The Court ordered that the defendant was subject to a lifetime post-release period and in addition, must register as a sex offender for 25 years, the Junction City Post reported. The Court ordered Martino not to have any contact with the minor in the case and ordered him to have no unsupervised contact with any female under the age of 18 for the duration of his probation.
