Jun 1, 2016New App Helps Athletes’ Mental Training
Jason Stirman, a former executive for Twitter, recently launched Lucid, a phone app that provides users with mental training advice from experts. According to Tech Crunch, Lucid is intended to help athletes get their heads in the game, and does so by allowing users to set their own goals, and receive guidance from coaches through daily meditations.
“Your brain doesn’t know the difference between what you visualize and what you experience so athletes for decades have been visualizing before they go out on that court or the field or the pool,” Stirman said.
Stirman has raised $1.5 million in seed money for Lucid. He said he hopes to market it to roughly 500,000 college athletes and 35 million youth athletes in the United States, although it can be used by athletes at any level. Lucid is free to download from the iTunes App Store, but costs $10 per month or $100 per year.
