Andrews Sports Medicine Launching New Podcast Series

Whether it’s cheering on a favorite team or competing in a community league, we all know the thrill of victory in sports. But there is a different type of victory that many athletes must pursue … one with no cheering fans or trophies. It’s victory over injury, and it is often the most important win that an athlete can achieve.

To shed light on this largely unknown side of sports medicine, Andrews Sports Medicine today announced the launch of its ‘Victory Over Injury’ podcast series. The podcast series will explore the depths of the often overlooked and largely unknown side of sports medicine: INJURY – digging into recovery and the mindset it takes to achieve victory over an injury.

“Sports fans often focus on injuries only when they occur: the concern when a favorite player suffers an on-field injury or the post-game news conference when a coach announces the crushing news of a season-ending injury,” said Dr. Michael K. Ryan, Andrews Sports Medicine orthopedic surgeon and ‘Victory Over Injury’ host.

Ryan goes on to state, “But for the athlete, it’s the beginning of a new challenge to overcome the injury and return to competition, or even normal life. With ‘Victory Over Injury,’ we peel back the layers of injury, delivering in-depth conversations with some of the world’s most respected sports medicine doctors, physical therapists, athletic trainers, sports psychologists, coaches, and players who all play key roles on the teams that focus on returning athletes to health.”

Dr. James Andrews, recognized by many as one of the most important individuals in sports, will join Dr. Ryan for an intimate interview to be released on February 12. The premiere episode will provide listeners with insight, experience, and knowledge from Dr. Andrews – who will reflect on his youth, career, and mentors, discuss his patient-care philosophy, birth of arthroscopic surgery, and training 300+ surgeons during a career that has spanned six decades. In addition, Dr. Andrews will share his experience treating Drew Brees, Jack Nicklaus, and Roger Clemens, and entertaining conversations with coach Nick Saban.

‘Victory Over Injury’ will continue to peel back the layers around sports medicine and bring these conversations and insights to listeners with new episodes released throughout 2021.
