Carlsbad’s new training facility built for the future

Carlsbad High School’s Cavemen are training in a facility built for the future. Completed in spring 2025, the new field house replaced an outdated complex that no longer met the needs of a growing program. The showpiece is a bright, glass-fronted weight room with sweeping views of the football stadium and a design shaped by input from coaches across multiple sports.

The weight room, outfitted with equipment by Dynamic Fitness, is anchored by ten custom Ultra Pro® Double Half Racks with integrated attachments and storage, flanked by 20 stand-up benches fitted with custom-branded slipcovers. Cavemen pride is everywhere — from upright wraps and bumper plates to barbell endcaps and dumbbells. Athletes also benefit from three iconic inverse curls, three walk-thru GHDs, three 45-degree hyperextensions, three cable stack lat/low row combos, two leg extensions, five sleds, and a wide array of cardio equipment and accessories.

“We finally have the space to program the way we want,” says Carlsbad athletic director Greg Haston. “It’s best for kids, and it sets our school up for the future.”

A garage-style bay door opens to a turf area for speed training or batting practice, while upcoming TV screens and Rack Performance software will allow coaches to monitor and display training data across the room.
