Clinic Funds Coverage

Lakota Schools in Liberty Township, Ohio, announced a $3.5 million partnership with the Christ Hospital and Beacon Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.

According to the Journal-News, the agreement provides 10 academic scholarships, $150,000 toward funding sports infrastructure and programs, and $3.5 million for sports personnel, in exchange for marketing opportunities in Lakota schools. Among the new personnel will be six full-time athletic trainers throughout the district, and a full-time strength and conditioning coach. The move is intended to help offset declining student participation in athletics.

“Strong community partnerships are a difference-maker in our ability to provide a premiere educational experience to our students,” Robb Vogelmann, acting superintendent for Lakota, said.

Andy Blankemeyer, CEO of Beacon, said he hoped the partnership would be beneficial to the community.

“In our new partnership with Lakota we want to serve more than just student-athletes,” he said. “This internship program is the first step in our commitment to provide high quality educational services to the district. We are excited about this first step and look forward to adding new opportunities for students along with our partners at Christ Hospital.”
