CytoSport™, parent company to Muscle Milk®, announced that the Muscle Milk Recovery Grant Program will be re-launched and will provide up to $250,000 in grants to help rebuild and revitalize high school athletic programs around the country that demonstrate a financial need. Submissions for high school programs will be accepted on the Muscle Milk Facebook page (www.facebook.com/musclemilk) or at MuscleMilkRecoveryGrant.com through Nov. 30, 2013. Applications can also be e-mailed to: [email protected]) or printed and sent to BHQ via snail mail. Last year, the program provided grants to 22 high school programs around the country.
“We were so moved by the stories that came out of last year’s submissions, and we’re excited to see the difference these grants make in these local athletic programs for student-athletes,” said CytoSport Chief Marketing Officer Nikki Brown. “High school athletic programs provide foundational development for student-athletes in and out of competition, and the Muscle Milk Recovery Grant Program is a great way we can provide financial resources to programs in need in local communities around the country.”

Grants will be awarded up to $25,000 per submission to programs that show a financial hardship outlined in the application process. Applicants must be at least 14 years old and can nominate the high school of their choice on the Muscle Milk Facebook page (www.facebook.com/musclemilk) or at MuscleMilkRecoveryGrant.com where they will be required to submit a written statement outlining their program’s needs, provide photos that support their request and will have the option to upload a video link to help further tell their story.

“Our school had a rich tradition in sports until we were divided into three smaller schools and budget cuts hit the sports department,” said Canarsie High School Head Football Coach Kyle Allen, recipient of one of last year’s grants. “Our kids had to pay for their own uniforms, we lacked proper equipment and we didn’t have a balance of academics and athletics that motivates student-athletes. Our athletics program is going through recovery; just like Muscle Milk helps build strength and helps with recovery, this grant is allowing me do the same thing with this program. Our new weight room equipment allows our student-athletes to increase their strength, and the grant is giving us our swagger back to become a full scale program that our school can be excited about.”

Applications will be accepted through Nov. 30, 2013 and recipient programs will be selected in January 2014. High school teams that received a grant from last year’s applications will not be eligible for another grant, but all other applicants are encouraged to apply again.
