Summit for Safety

On Tuesday, October 30, NFL and NCAA officials will meet in New York for a summit regarding player safety rules.

According to USA Today, the meeting will include representatives from both organizations’ competition committees and officiating departments. Troy Vincent, NFL executive vice president for football operations, said the meeting was intended to apply consistent standards for all levels of football.

“It’s long overdue,” Vincent said. “I think we can learn from each other. That’s the intent.”

Ray Anderson, Arizona State’s athletic director, called the meeting an “opportunity for collaboration” between the NCAA and NFL.

“No one wants to say it, but the NCAA is a feeder system for the NFL,” Anderson said. “It makes sense, particularly when it comes to health and safety, to get as much information as possible and work together.”
