High Court Dismisses Case

Years after the injury, a suit filed by a former Auburn University football player has been dismissed. The suit was filed by Austin Chaz Ramsey against Auburn University as well as its head strength and conditioning coach, Kevin Yoxall.

An article from the Madison County Journal explains that Ramsey claims required workouts re-injured his back in 2007. Two years later, Ramsey filed a complaint in U.S. District Court against an athletic trainer and assistant coach with allegations of a different exercise leading to back injuries.

In 2011, Ramsey filed a complaint in Madison County, alleging a career-ending injury. The defendants claimed the venue was not proper for the case and the case was dismissed.

Upon moving from Alabama to Madison County about a year later, Ramsey filed an amended complaint. After being dismissed due to improper venue in 2014, Ramsey appealed the ruling to the Supreme Court. The case was rejected last week, with documents stating the judgment of the Circuit Court in Madison County was affirmed.
