Jan 29, 2015Enjoying Philadelphia
As one of America’s largest and most dynamic cities, Philadelphia offers plenty of interesting ways to fill your free hours. Below are just a few ideas, and for many more, be sure to check out www.visitphilly.com so you can get the most out of your trip.
• Ride “The Ducks”: For a unique tour of the city, Philly has Ducks–open-air buses that allow you to see and hear about some of the most famous local attractions. After starting on land, Ducks actually plunge into the Delaware River to give you an aquatic view of the surroundings.
• The Academy of Natural Sciences: Science buffs won’t want to miss one of the world’s foremost natural history museums. Highlights include a simulated tropical rainforest and a fully constructed Giganotosaurus skeleton.
• Out to the Ballgame: The Phillies have a home series against the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights during the convention. Sit with your colleagues and discuss the nutrition mini-course you attended that day while you eat a concession stand cheesesteak (or two).
• Independence Hall: See the birthplace of the U.S. Constitution–the assembly room where Constitutional Convention delegates from 12 states (Rhode Island stayed home) hammered out the framework for our modern system of government in 1787.
