Athletic Training’s Shining Sun

When it comes to helping aging and injured players rejuvenate their bodies and their playing careers, Phoenix Suns Athletic Trainer Aaron Nelson, MS, ATC, NASM-PES, is one of the best in the business. An old friend of T&C, Nelson has co-authored an article the magazine and been interviewed for a number of others. In this recent podcast, Nelson discusses his path to athletic training and spending the last 20 years with the Suns organization.

In 2009, we profiled Nelson in this Web monthly feature in which he discusses life in the NBA and his approach to corrective exercise.

For the article, Upwardly Immobile, Nelson talks about working with injured athletes who requires a cast or a brace.

Nelson also spoke to T&C about his work with Amare Stoudemire to enable the center’s return from knee microfracture surgery to repair a chondral defect.

And in 2005, Nelson, co-authored this article on developing a a specialized reconditioning program to help an NBA player overcome hamstring pain.
