Ninja Challenge

The Virginia Tech strength and conditioning staff held its annual Hokie Women’s Ninja Warrior Challenge this past week, an event that features the Tech women’s athletics programs.

Members of out-of-season women’s athletics teams are broken into four groups of 15 student-athletes with a mix of student-athletes from each team. Virginia Tech Athletics Department administrators and staff serve as “coaches” for the ninja teams.

“The goal at the end of the day is a fun night and camaraderie,” assistant director of strength & conditioning Megan Evans said. “The offseason training schedule is long, and this gives the student-athletes an opportunity to get together with other female student-athletes and compete in a different way.”

The teams rotate through four events including: weight room challenge, prowler sled push relay, egg hunt (involving trivia questions, finding an Easter egg, physical challenge and mental challenge) and nutrition quiz. In addition, all of the teams compete in the stadium sprint and tug-of-war.
