If you want it done right, do it yourself

April 16, 2018

Are you confident your coaches are getting the training they need—and that you want them to receive—from your current coach-certification solution? For many high school athletic directors, the answer increasingly is no—especially for those who rely on online courses.

For all of its conveniences, online instruction has one major drawback: It cannot replicate the face-to-face interaction of a classroom clinic. Bringing coaches into the classroom to learn from and exchange ideas with their coaching peers adds a unique dimension to the learning process. It encourages engagement and accountability. It builds relationships and camaraderie. And it empowers instructors to tailor and deliver coach education that meets the unique needs of their program.

<copy>In response, many athletic directors are taking the “do it yourself” approach by certifying as Coaching Principles instructors and teaching the course to coaches in their districts to meet coaching education requirements in their respective states. Those interested can become a Coaching Principles instructor at no charge. The first step is to register for a free instructor training webinar (click the link below). The webinar will introduce to-be instructors to the course curriculum, ancillaries, and logistics surrounding course purchase, delivery, and reporting. Participating in the webinar does not obligate a participant to become an instructor.

In fact, Human Kinetics Coach Education was the first to offer online courses for high school coach certification with the release of Coaching Principles (link: http://www.asep.com/courseInfo/purchase_courseinfo.cfm?CourseID=227&associate=8515) in 2003.
