A number of recent articles have recognized the efforts of strength and conditioning coaches, including Stanford's Shannon Turley, Auburn's Ryan Russell, and Shaun Huls of the Philadelphia Eagles.For the past several years, few college football teams have epitomized smash-mouth football than the Stanford Cardinal. A big reason for that has been Strength and Conditioning Coach Shannon Turley.

Baylor University has announced that next fall, the athletic department will complete construction on a 12,000-square-feet athlete-centered nutrition complex and dining hall. Funded by a $3 million donation, the Beauchamp Athletic Nutrition Center (BANC) will be located near both the school's indoor football practice facility and the Simpson Strength and Conditioning area.

For many, the focus will be on the athletic exploits of their country's elite athletes as they gun for gold. But behind every great performance, there is someone working outside of the spotlight to keep the athletes safe and their bodies in prime condition to contend.
