Mobile Medical Care

The CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Foundation’s mobile treatment unit has been providing free sports medicine services at sporting events in Tyler, Texas for the past year.

According to CBS 19, the unit can treat minor injuries that require taping, splinting, casting, or suturing.

“Just about anything we can do in the clinic we can do in here,” Jim Rapp, Director of Sports Medicine, said.

Rapp said the unit goes to three to six local sports and community events per week, depending on the number of games.

“Everything we do in here is free of charge,” Rapp said. “We don’t bill insurance. We don’t bill the parent for any thing that we do in this clinic.”

The unit not only treats athletes, but also anyone in the community who may need medical care.

“Just one way or one big visible way that we can bring medical care out to the communities and offer this up as an immediate treatment source instead of a child who’s participating and having to wait to get in to see a doctor,” Rapp said.
